Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Biggs

Biggs had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Everything went their way against the Portola Tigers as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Riley Harrison was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Harrison was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allie Little, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mailey Seipert, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Biggs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Biggs' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-3-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Portola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10-1.

Coming up, Biggs will challenge Maxwell at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.05 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. Portola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
