National Naismith awards are announced

Austin Rivers, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis are top players; Kevin Boyle and Jeff Sink honored as coaches.

The Atlanta Tipoff Club has announced the winners of its annual high school basketball awards.

Winter Park (Fla.) senior guard Austin Rivers (6-foot-4) has been named National Boys Player of the Year. The Duke University signee will lead his team into the Class 6A state title game tonight against Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.).

The Girls National Player of the Year is 6-foot senior wing Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, a University of Connecticut signee from Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.). On Friday, she led the second-ranked Monarchs (29-1) to a victory over No. 1 Brea Olinda (29-1) in the CIF Southern Section 1AA championship.

The National Coach of the Year award for boys went to Kevin Boyle of St. Patrick (Elizabeth, N.J.) and for girls to Jeff Sink of Brea Olinda (Brea, Calif.).
