Baseball Game Preview: Old Forge Blue Devils vs. Riverside Vikings

The Old Forge Blue Devils will face off against the Riverside Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Old Forge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Old Forge's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Valley View by a score of 5-0.

The result came thanks to Jake Bartnikowski's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Iacavazzi, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Krushnowski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Riverside and Mid Valley have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Vikings lost 12-6 to the Spartans. The Vikings have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Old Forge, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Old Forge skirted past Riverside 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
