The Carrboro Jaguars will square off against the South Granville Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Carrboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Vance County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 83-64. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Jaguars with their most commanding win of the season.

Bakari Watkins was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 12 boards. Those 35 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam Kanjorski, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.
Carrboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, South Granville greeted the New Year with with an 82-66 win over J.F. Webb. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Warriors are ranked 282nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carrboro better focus on containing Mason Brown and KJ Terry as the pair were huge in South Granville's win. Brown dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds, while Terry almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. Brown's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrell Thornton, who posted seven steals and five assists.
Carrboro's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for South Granville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Carrboro hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.5 points per game. However, it's not like South Granville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Carrboro might still be hurting after the 96-71 defeat they got from South Granville in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Carrboro, Brendan Chamberlain (who went 8 of 18 on his way to 22 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
