Soccer Game Preview: Champion vs. Rootstown

The Champion Golden Flashes will be taking part in a tournament against the Rootstown Rovers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Champion will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Champion is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Northwestern get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give Champion's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Rootstown narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Kirtland 1-0.

Rootstown's victory bumped their record up to 14-4-1. As for Champion, their win bumped their record up to 19-0-1.

Champion suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Rootstown in their previous meeting back in October of 2017. Can the Golden Flashes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
