Volleyball Recap: Joliet Catholic Takes a Loss

Joliet Catholic was the 2-1 winner over Carmel when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hilltoppers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Corsairs on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Joliet Catholic was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-22.

Ella Horn paced Joliet Catholic's offense, picking up five kills. Horn were helped by Emma Beattie and Maggie Tibbott, who contributed eight assists each. Tibbott was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Joliet Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Carmel, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-5.

Looking ahead, Joliet Catholic will welcome Wheaton-Warrenville South at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carmel, they will take on Deerfield in a tournament on Saturday.
