Paint Valley was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Western Indians, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bearcats have posted against the Indians since October 18, 2018.

Paint Valley wouldn't go down easily and took Western into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-17, 22-25, 24-26, 15-8.

Kylea Spangler paced Paint Valley's offense, picking up 14 kills. Spangler got some help from Hallie Rummer and her 25 assists. Rummer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Paint Valley's victory ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Western, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
