Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Spartans vs. Waldron Mohawks

Southwestern hasn't had much luck against Waldron recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Southwestern Spartans will face off against the Waldron Mohawks at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Southwestern is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Friday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-33 heartbreaker at the hands of Hagerstown.

Meanwhile, Waldron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Oldenburg Academy, falling 60-26. The Mohawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Southwestern will have to contain Emerson Lindsey as she made an impact in Waldron's last game. She posted ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Waldron, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Southwestern suffered a grim 53-31 defeat to Waldron when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can Southwestern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
