Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Hamilton's Third in Last Four Outings

Hamilton won the last time they faced Butte Central Catholic, and Canaan Magness did his part to make sure it happened again. The Hamilton Broncs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Butte Central Catholic Maroons on Saturday, sneaking past 62-60 thanks in part to Magness, who went 10 for 18 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Jette, who posted six points and 18 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Hamilton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Butte Central Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-5.

Hamilton and Butte Central Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Montana Rankings. Hamilton will challenge Frenchtown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 48 places (64 vs. 16). Similarly, Butte Central Catholic (ranked 99th) will meet Beaverhead County (ranked 15th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
