Baseball Recap: Whitney Point Comes Up Short

Whitney Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 9-1 to the Edison Spartans.

Whitney Point got a good showing from Riley Head, who pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Head has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Whitney Point's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Edison, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Whitney Point will host Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Edison, they will head out to square off against Lansing at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
