Eustis has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mount Dora recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Canes at 7:00 p.m. Eustis is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Eustis' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Winter Springs 2-0. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly two runs.
The result came thanks to Carson Roden's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dalilah Taylor, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Scott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Geneva on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-1.
Kaleigh Casey spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Mount Dora saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dallas Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Eustis' win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Mount Dora, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Eustis' speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mount Dora, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Eustis continue to outrun the ball?
Eustis was able to grind out a solid victory over Mount Dora in their previous matchup back in March, winning 3-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Canes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
