It was a good run, but Lanier unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Jefferson Mustangs by a score of 56-54. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Voks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Mustangs are ranked 993rd).

Lanier's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, Lanier and Jefferson will both be playing Seguin the next time they take the court. The Voks will head out to face the Matadors at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, while the Mustangs will host them at 6:30 p.m. on the 31st.
