Basketball Recap: Fivay Beats Gulf for Their Fifth Straight Win

Fivay had won four straight games and Dominick Walsh did his part to make it five on Thursday. The Fivay Falcons were the clear victor by a 70-45 margin over the Gulf Buccaneers thanks in part to Walsh, who went 10 for 15 en route to 26 points. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Sean Brown, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals. That's the most assists he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaydn Wood, who had 12 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Murphy, who scored six points and three steals.

Fivay is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for Gulf, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.

Fivay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-62 defeat against Mitchell on the 24th. As for Gulf, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-53 loss against Lecanto on the 25th.
