Baseball Recap: West Franklin Continues Home Dominance on Monday

West Franklin is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Wabaunsee on Monday, but Wabaunsee came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chargers, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since April 18, 2024.

Wyatt McCullough made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. McCullough was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gunnar McMahan, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chandler Scott, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

West Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wabaunsee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
