Softball Recap: West Salem's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

West Salem waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Red Hawks. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Josie Brudos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Dylynn Bayer was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Kylie Elsen, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

West Salem's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Salem will venture away from home to challenge Tomah at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Timberwolves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, they will head out on the road to take on La Crosse Logan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
