Basketball Game Preview: Glide Wildcats vs. South Umpqua Lancers

Glide and South Umpqua are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Glide Wildcats will head out to challenge the South Umpqua Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 45-18, which was the final score in Glide's tilt against Sutherlin on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, South Umpqua was beaten by Coquille 68-24 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Red Devils are ranked 22nd).

South Umpqua's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Glide, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-12.

Glide strolled past South Umpqua when the teams last played back in January by a score of 42-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Glide since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
