Softball Recap: Hancock County Wins Going Away Against Cosby

Hancock County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cosby, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Indians were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Eagles on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Calyn Seal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kylie Jarnigan was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. She also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Payton Lawson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Jarnigan wasn't the only one making solid contact: Hancock County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Hancock County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-4. As for Cosby, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Hancock County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-4 victory against Johnson County on the 5th. As for Cosby, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-4 loss against Gatlinburg-Pittman on the 7th.
