Baseball Recap: Mansueto Comes Up Short

Mansueto lost against Cristo Rey Jesuit back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mansueto Leopards took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros.

Oswaldo Patino-Gonzalez put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Alexander Caserez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Mansueto's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mansueto will venture away from home to face off against Hubbard at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Fasman Yeshiva at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
