Softball Game Preview: Odem Owls vs. Aransas Pass Panthers

The Odem Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aransas Pass Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Odem is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Odem gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over West Oso. The win continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won seven in a row.

Odem got a massive performance out of Marianna Torrez, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Torrez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Spurlock, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Aransas Pass fell victim to Taft and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Greyhounds, falling 15-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost four in a row.

Aransas Pass' defeat dropped their record down to 6-11-1. As for Odem, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Odem was able to grind out a solid win over Aransas Pass when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 8-4. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
