Football Recap: Sweeny Comes Up Short

After soaring to 71 points the game before, Sweeny was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell 19-13 to the Royal Falcons. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Leading Royal to victory were Tyler Gilmore and Emory Oliver. Gilmore gained 169 total yards and two touchdowns, while Oliver threw for 171 yards and one touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 60 yards.

Sweeny's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Royal, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Sweeny and Royal will both be playing Columbia the next time they take the field. The Falcons will host the Roughnecks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
