Soccer Game Preview: Capistrano Valley vs. San Clemente

Capistrano Valley is 2-8 against San Clemente since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Capistrano Valley Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the San Clemente Tritons at 5:15 p.m. Capistrano Valley's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Wednesday, Capistrano Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Mission Viejo and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, San Clemente made easy work of Mission Viejo on Monday and carried off a 5-1 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-1.

San Clemente hit Mission Viejo with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Griffin Blair (2), Jonah Levandofsky, Chris Benitez, and Jack Blaney.

San Clemente is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five matchups. As for Capistrano Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5-3.

Capistrano Valley came up short against San Clemente when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 4-2. Can Capistrano Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
