Volleyball Recap: Coral Gables Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Dade on Tuesday, Coral Gables came back down to earth. The Cavaliers lost 3-0 to the Riviera Prep Bulldogs on Thursday.

Coral Gables was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-22, 25-13.

Bianca Benson paced Coral Gables' offense, picking up seven kills. Benson got some help from Corina McDanal and her five assists. Benson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Isabella Cruz, racking up two apiece.

Riviera Prep was led to victory by Natalie Chabouk and Hailey Pe?a. Chabouk had four digs and two aces, while Pe?a had 15 digs and two assists.

Coral Gables' loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Coral Gables will take on Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riviera Prep, they will face off against Ferguson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
