The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past McCutcheon 44-42. Given Lafayette Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while McCutcheon is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lafayette Central Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Metzger, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Stapleton, who scored 11 points.

Lafayette Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for McCutcheon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

As for McCutcheon, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Richmond at 7:00 p.m. Richmond is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
