They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past McCutcheon 44-42. Given Lafayette Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while McCutcheon is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lafayette Central Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Metzger, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Stapleton, who scored 11 points.
Lafayette Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for McCutcheon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Lafayette Central Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Rensselaer Central at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Rensselaer Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Wednesday. As for McCutcheon, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Richmond at 7:00 p.m. Richmond is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
