Baseball Recap: Westview Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Deer Valley, Westview was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Agua Fria Owls, sneaking past 16-14. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Kinyaaaanii Benavente was incredible, scoring four runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Jordan Perez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-6.

Benavente wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Westview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Westview's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-6. As for Agua Fria, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Westview will have a chance to go back-to-back against Agua Fria: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
