Volleyball Recap: West Islip Takes a Loss

West Islip lost against Hauppauge back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0.

West Islip took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-21, 25-22.

Leading Hauppauge to victory were Jenna Gennari and Grace Barbera. Gennari had 13 assists and three aces, while Barbera had five digs. Those three aces gave Gennari a new career-high.

West Islip's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hauppauge, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

West Islip will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Smithtown West at 10:00 a.m. on October 13. As for Hauppauge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Smithtown East on the 13th.
