Preview: KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy vs. Parkway West HOYAS
After two games on the road, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Parkway West HOYAS at 3:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Monday, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy ended up a good deal behind Parkway Northwest and lost 67-48. While losing is never fun, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 690th, while Parkway Northwest is ranked 297th).
Despite the defeat, KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy had strong showings from Haile Johnson, who scored 12 points along with six steals, and Mekhi Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Anderson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Sayid Cooley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Parkway West's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 44-37 to Philadelphia Academy Charter. Parkway West has struggled against Philadelphia Academy Charter recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Parkway West, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road.
KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy took their win against Parkway West in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 69-45. Does KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Parkway West turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
