Softball Recap: Tolono Unity's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Tolono Unity dropped their record down to 33-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's 14-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Auburn Trojans by a score of 2-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Rockets were not able to get on the board.

Lindy Bates spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

As for Auburn, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

On Auburn's side, the result came thanks to Meena Taylor's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Auburn's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Addison Jones, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As of now, neither Tolono Unity nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
