Baseball Recap: Hanford West Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Hanford West came into Wednesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Reedley Pirates 4-2. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 victory the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Alex Orozco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Hanford West's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Ritchie, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Ritchie a new career-high. Drake Tafolla was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory got Hanford West back to even at 10-10. As for Reedley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Hanford West will have a chance to go back-to-back against Reedley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
