Recap: Independence Falcons vs. Palmdale Falcons
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mark Keppel, the Independence Falcons were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Palmdale by a score of 55-43. Given Independence's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Palmdale is ranked 1133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Independence can attribute much of their success to JAMES TANNER, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. TANNER is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.
When it comes to explaining why Palmdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamari Owens . Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. Owens scored a full 51.2% of Palmdale's points, the 15th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was John Pangandian, who scored ten points.
Independence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Palmdale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Sunnyside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sunnyside is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.1 points per game. Palmdale and Highland will face off at 1:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Highland will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
