Softball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Northeast Academy Eagles

For the second straight game, Lawrence Academy will face off against Northeast Academy. Lawrence Academy will be playing at home against Northeast Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lawrence Academy has five straight wins, Northeast Academy has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lawrence Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Northeast Academy a 21-0 shutout on Monday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 13 runs or more this season.

Clair Ferebee made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lilly Brower and Claire Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Brower went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Smith went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Brower a new career-high. Jaslene Ethridge was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Lawrence Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in six consecutive games.

Lawrence Academy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Northeast Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
