Softball Recap: Piketon Beats Eastern for Their Sixth Straight Win

Piketon extended their winning streak to six on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 11-1 in the process. They never let the Eastern Eagles get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Redstreaks have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyndall Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Aubrey Heath was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Briar Penwell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

As for Eastern, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

On Eastern's side, Leah Rader spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Rader has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Piketon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Paint Valley on the 21st. As for Eastern, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-2 win against Minford on the 18th.
