Softball Recap: Scripps Ranch Beats Westview for Their Third Straight Victory

Scripps Ranch proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 14) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Westview Wolverines 7-6. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolverines, too.

Kenzie Johnson looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eme Ledbetter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Griffin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.

The win was the third in a row for Scripps Ranch, bringing their record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Westview, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4-1.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Scripps Ranch Falcons face off against Canyon Crest Academy Ravens at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon Crest Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Scripps Ranch surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westview, they have already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against San Pasqual on the 26th.
