Recap: Van-Far Indians vs. Clopton Hawks
After flying high against Columbia Independent last Tuesday, the Van-Far Indians came back down to earth. Van-Far had to suffer through a rough 66-33 loss at the hands of Clopton. While losing is never fun, Van-Far can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Clopton is ranked 82nd).
Van-Far lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elliott Utterback, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Van-Far struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are winless (0-6) when they just don't pass the ball.
Clopton found their leader in underclassman Charleigh Spoonster, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Spoonster hasn't dropped below eight assists for three straight games. Tinleigh Spoonster was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Van-Far's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Clopton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-6.
Van-Far will head out on the road to take on Louisiana at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Van-Far focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Thursday. Clopton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
