Baseball Recap: Ramsey Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Ramsey dropped their record down to 15-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Mahwah Thunderbirds, falling 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 17, 2024.

Alex DeSimone was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Sean Sailer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Mahwah, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Mahwah's side, they got a great performance from Brendan Kelly as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Kelly is becoming a predictor of the Thunderbirds' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 5-2 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Ryan Hawken was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Buonanno, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Coming up, Ramsey will face off against Hackensack at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mahwah will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' game: after the Rams face off against the Comets, they'll take on Mahwah again at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
