Basketball Recap: Manokotak Lynx vs. Chief Ivan Blunka Eagles
The Manokotak Lynx waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They managed a 63-57 victory over Chief Ivan Blunka. Given Manokotak's advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Eagles are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manokotak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kelisha Gloko, who scored 22 points. Gloko is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 20 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicki Paul, who scored 19 points.
Manokotak pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Chief Ivan Blunka, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Manokotak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chief Ivan Blunka also has no future games currently scheduled.
