Basketball Recap: Rockdale County Falls to Salem in First Game of Season

Rockdale County had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Salem Seminoles by a score of 39-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since December 27, 2024.

Kamya Bryant and Jayda Edwards certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Bryant posted six points along with 12 boards and five steals, while Edwards had five points in addition to nine rebounds and five blocks. Bryant is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Kalicia Coney had an outrageously good game for Salem as she shot 75% from the field on her way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Coney a new career-high.

Salem has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Rockdale County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-39 win against Eastside on the 15th. As for Salem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-31 defeat against Alcovy on the 11th.
