Basketball Preview: Ballinger Bearcats vs. Grape Creek Eagles
Ballinger is 9-0 against the Eagles since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Ballinger Bearcats will head out on the road to take on the Grape Creek Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Two weeks ago, Ballinger had to suffer through a rough 62-33 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Ballinger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 267th).
Meanwhile, Grape Creek was the victim of a rough 61-40 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday. Grape Creek was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.
Ballinger has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Grape Creek, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-19.
Everything came up roses for Ballinger against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 56-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ballinger since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
