Baseball Recap: Blue Island Eisenhower Comes Up Short

Blue Island Eisenhower was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 5-2 to the Lemont Lemont HS. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lemont HS from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Adriel Castro put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Blue Island Eisenhower is 2-1 when Castro posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-16 otherwise.

Castro wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jo'Mari Dixon, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Blue Island Eisenhower's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Lemont, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Island Eisenhower will venture away from home to challenge Bremen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Lemont, they are taking a road trip to square off against Lincoln-Way West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
