Football Recap: Ella Poulin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Morse

Point Loma lost to Morse back in August, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Pointers snuck past the Tigers with a 26-20 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pointers.

Point Loma got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Poulin out in front who threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. The Pointers are 2-1 when Poulin posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. 131 of Poulin's passing yards were hauled in by Abby Laroux, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Point Loma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Seidel Thomson and Alexa Avila-Aguilar.

The win got Point Loma back to even at 5-5. As for Morse, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Point Loma will face off against Madison at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warhawks' defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so the Pointers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Morse, they will challenge Scripps Ranch at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
