Volleyball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

The Lakewood Rangers came up short against the Riverside Beavers on Monday and fell 3-1.

Lakewood started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21.

Ariana Hueter paced Lakewood's offense, picking up 13 kills. Hueter got some help from Erin Boyer and her 31 assists. Hueter also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Rowan Elyko, racking up three apiece.

Riverside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marlee Pettine led the charge by getting 17 digs. That's the most digs Pettine has posted since back in September of 2024. Julia Huffman was another key player, getting 11 digs and three aces.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Riverside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Lakewood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Bay on the 26th. As for Riverside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Medina on the 28th.
