Softball Recap: Bishop Feehan Comes Up Short

Bishop Feehan extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 2-5-1. They lost 8-2 to the Coventry Oakers. That's two games in a row now that the Shamrocks have lost by exactly six runs.

As for Coventry, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For Coventry's part, Mary Mcgovern made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Mcgovern was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Payton Baris and Addison Kerwin did most of the damage at the plate: Baris went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Kerwin went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Katherine Guiot was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Looking ahead, Bishop Feehan will take on Middleborough at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Coventry, they will face off against Pilgrim at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
