Football Recap: Canyon View Piles Up the Points Against Kellis

Canyon View got themselves on the board against Kellis on Friday, but Kellis never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 49-0 victory over the Cougars. The matchup marked the Jaguars' most dominant win of the season.

Canyon View had a senior duo take command as Brady Scott rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown and Dj Sims Jr. gained 73 total yards and two touchdowns. Sims Jr. showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 50 yards. Canyon View also got help from Micahel Callejas, who showed off his sure hands for 80 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Canyon View proved: they limited Kellis to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Jackson McCarthy stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss). Canyon View's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.

Canyon View is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points over those games. As for Kellis, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Scott and Malachi Wilt. Meanwhile, Kellis is set to face off against their familiar foe Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Robert Cordova and Dmari Bryant.
