Softball Game Preview: MacArthur Generals vs. Champaign Central Maroons

The MacArthur Generals will challenge the Champaign Central Maroons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. MacArthur has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 20 straight losses, while Champaign Central will come in with four straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for MacArthur's offense. They came up short against Glenwood on Tuesday, falling 18-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Generals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

MacArthur saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Felicia Meyrick, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Champaign Central never let their opponents score on Saturday. They skirted past Bloomington 2-0. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Maroons have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Haley Helm's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 21 Ks. Those 21 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

Champaign Central pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for MacArthur, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
