Baseball Recap: Silsbee's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Silsbee). They never let the Woodville Eagles get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matsyn Morris was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Morris was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Silsbee let Jackson Perdue and Brendon Hughes run wild. Perdue scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Hughes scored three runs while going 1-for-3. Mikey Moshier was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

The win was the fifth in a row for Silsbee, bringing their record for this year to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs over those games. As for Woodville, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Silsbee will face off against Luling at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Silsbee's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Luling's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Woodville, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles challenge the Owls at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday.
