Baseball Recap: Millikan Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Millikan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Lakewood Lancers with a sharp 12-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 12 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Owen Waytas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Xavier Kennard was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Pack, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Millikan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood only posted an OBP of .286.

Millikan pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Millikan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-4 defeat against San Dimas on the 1st. As for Lakewood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-0 win against Cabrillo on the 2nd.
