Preview: Classical Saints vs. School of the Ozarks Patriots
The Classical Saints will be playing in front of their home fans against the School of the Ozarks Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Classical will be looking to keep their 16-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Classical beat Waverly 55-50. Given Classical's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Waverly is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
School of the Ozarks has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a rough 68-41 loss at the hands of Niangua. School of the Ozarks has struggled against Niangua recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Graham Wilhoit, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Caleb Widner, who scored nine points along with six steals.
Classical's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for School of the Ozarks, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.
Classical took their victory against School of the Ozarks in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 52-28. Does Classical have another victory up their sleeve, or will School of the Ozarks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
