2A District 8 recap September 17, 2013

Pine took down Varnado 43-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Raiders made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,330 from 8,326. The advance stemmed from a 43-6 victory over the Wildcats last week.

Mt. Hermon's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dwayne Elzey threw for 93 and 3 touchdowns and Logan McGregor had 67 yards receiving. On the ground Lamont Brownridge contributed 168 yards.

The Yellowjackets' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver.

Archbishop Hannan's Korey Zeigler and Jason Brooks have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Zeigler has thrown for 162 yards this season, while Brooks has 9 catches for 83 yards. Derrick Dillon from Pine leads the league in rushing with 280 yards.

The Hawks led 2A District 8 in scoring this week by notching 45 points on King. Zeigler threw for 114 yards and ran for 17 yards during the win.
