Softball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Meridian lost against Brentsville District back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elena Clark-Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Brentsville District, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Meridian and Brentsville District will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Mustangs see the field they'll take on Mount Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Brentsville District, their break will end when they face James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st.
