Volleyball Recap: Cuba City Takes a Loss

Cuba City was the 3-1 winner over Mineral Point when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cubans fell just short of the Pointers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Cubans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pointers 25-15 in the first set.

Cuba City actually scored more points across those five sets (105-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 15-25, 20-25, 25-21, 27-25, 15-9.

Maya Misky paced Cuba City's offense, picking up 12 kills. Misky got some help from Emersyn Niles and her 38 assists. Brooke Terpstra controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Cuba City's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-9. As for Mineral Point, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Cuba City and Riverdale will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 2. As for Mineral Point, they will challenge St. Ambrose Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
