Baseball Recap: Daviess County Has No Trouble Against Hancock County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Daviess County). Everything went their way against the Hancock County Hornets on Monday as Daviess County made off with a 17-4 win. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.

Parker Wilson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Brody Brubaker was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Mewes, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Daviess County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Daviess County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hancock County, they dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Daviess County Panthers face off against McLean County Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McLean County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Daviess County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hancock County, they will head out to take on Grayson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
